Instructional Designer

HighPoint’s professionals focus on helping governmentagencies and companies implementtheir most critically strategic initiatives.TheroleofInstructionalDesignercontributestoHighPointthroughthedesign,development,andmaintenance of instructional material for job training products.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Design & Curriculum Development

  • Evaluate and modify existing instructional materials to improve instructional design quality.
  • Create and design new/refresher training products and curriculum.
  • Conduct needs analyses, write objectives, recommend instructional models, create learning solutions, and integrate measurement standards.
  • Select, modify, or create a design and development model for a project.

Content Maintenance, Quality & Compliance

  • Revise current training products and curriculum regularly to keep content accurate and current.
  • Manage deliverables and timelines while meeting quality standards, Section 508 compliance, style guide requirements, and review cycles.
  • Participate in call reviews, test calls, and quality activities to assess training effectiveness.
  • Seek guidance/resources to ensure data is interpreted correctly at the product level.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with curriculum team members, Subject Matter Experts, and cross-department representatives.
  • Attend team, curriculum, and client meetings.
  • Occasionally represent the Training team when presenting to the client.
  • Assist new hires with onboarding plans, tasks, and shadowing.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Create, document, and improve team processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Recommend and execute solutions/work-arounds that support the overall program or project.
  • Identify and communicate issues or improvement opportunities.
  • Seek opportunities to try new processes and tools.
  • Accept changes to processes and environment.

Communication, Feedback & Risk Management

  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding issues or improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate clearly and in a timely manner about issues, opportunities, barriers, and project risks.
  • Contribute to the overall goals of the training organization.

Project Leadership & Team Contribution

  • Contribute to key projects and initiatives.
  • Act as a key contributor and team leader supporting training organization goals.

Professional Knowledge & Tools

  • Maintain current knowledge of instructional design concepts, including adult learning principles, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluation, and related frameworks.
  • Use instructional design tools such as Microsoft Office, Section 508 Accessibility tools, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe Fonts, Captivate, and Snagit.

 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

Communication, Presentation & Facilitation

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with sound presentation and facilitation skills.
  • A high level of competence in identifying and adapting to various communication styles.
  • Ability to facilitate small group design meetings, focus groups, client meetings, and other initiative meetings.

Instructional Design & Course Development

  • Ability to apply/execute product development based on needs assessment findings.  
  • Ability to effectively design a course.
  • Ability to write course objectives, create effective assessment questions, and create appropriate activities.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and ideas and convey them in a simple, easy-to-understand format and flow.
  • Ability to identify and recommend the appropriate method needed to effectively deliver training.

Collaboration & Customer Focus 

  • Customer service-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate and develop strong partnerships across the team, department, and organization.

Feedback, Decision-Making & Product Ownership  

  • Ability to give and receive actionable feedback in a positive manner at the product level regardless of stress level.
  • Confidence and competence to drive key decisions related to products owned.
  • Ability to effectively identify limitations and barriers at the product level.

Training Delivery Experience  

  • Experience facilitating training across multiple formats, such as instructor-led and virtual, preferred.

EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor'sdegreefroma4-yearcollegeoruniversity
  • 4yearsofinstructionaldesignand/ortrainingdelivery experience

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000-65,000
